The Little Rock Zoo is offering both virtual and on-grounds Zoofari camps this summer to provide fun-filled and educational programming for children. The camp is specifically geared toward elementary-aged children, but is fun for the whole family. https://www.pcssd.org/article/258066?org=pcssd

Beating the summer slide can be done by some simple activities during the summer. You could visit our local libraries to check out books or even take some classes. #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence

Every student should have their final report card. Parents of students in kindergarten and 1st grade received an email report card. Parents of students in grades 2 - 12 can find their child's report card in HAC. #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence

For many kids, wearing a mask might seem uncomfortable and scary. UAMS created book to help children adjust to why it's important to wear mask. It even includes activities to do with younger children.

The summer slide overwhelmingly impacts kids from lower income families more than others. It is reported that by the end of the 5th grade, students from lower income families are often 2.5 years behind their peers. #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence

Message from Principal Lee regarding report cards:
*Report Cards for K-1 were emailed to the parents through SchoolStatus.
*Report Cards for 2nd-5th grade can be accessed through HAC just like the 3rd nine weeks.
*The 4th nine weeks grades were reported as CREDIT or NO CREDIT per PCSSD grading policy.
We hope you enjoy your summer!!

LAST CHANCE!! The final collection date for Chromebooks is Thursday, June 11 from 4-6 pm. To avoid any late fees, please drop off the device, charger, and bag at SYLVAN HILLS MIDDLE, ROBINSON MIDDLE, MILLS UNIVERSITY STUDIES HIGH or MAUMELLE HIGH. #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence

Teachers spend valuable classroom time at the beginning of each school year to catch up students who have fallen behind where they should be. It can take 4-6 weeks to re-teach students the material they forgot. #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence

By the time students get to high school, the learning loss caused by the summer slide can create a performance gap of 2-5 years. But simply practicing some skills will keep your student sharp heading into next year. #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence

The summer slide is real and students can lose more than 2.5 months of math skills, 2 months of reading skills, and multiple grade levels of abilities without putting what they have learned this list year to practice. #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence

Cato volunteers are the BEST! Pictured are those volunteers that had 50 hours and above..not only are some of these parents, but some are community helpers and grandparents...We APPRECIATE you!!

Many students have already closed their books and won't open them again until school is back in session. This puts kids at risk of falling behind and lower standardized test scores. We will provide facts and tips to avoid the summer slide here. #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence
